Coptic Stitch Handmade Book - Green & Pink

Hand bound by book artist Patti Paulus. The cover is original paste paper in soft greens, brushed in long horizontal strokes with a single stroke of pink surfacing near the spine and a wash of blue settling at the foot. It is the quietest cover in the range, closer to a landscape seen through fog than to a pattern. Each sheet is pulled by hand, so this one belongs to this book alone.

The paste paper wraps the boards directly, with no cloth at the spine, so the exposed coptic stitch sits right against them in a green thread matched to the cover. The stitch is what lets the book fall open flat and stay there, including on the first and last spreads.

A small landscape book, 5 by 4 inches, with 144 lined pages on 70 lb acid free text weight. Thick for its footprint, and easy to keep in a coat pocket.
